Crochet is a lot of things to a lot of people. To some, it's simply a hobby. To others, a means to an end. Others see it as therapy. There are a hundred other viewpoints.

Some of us see crochet as art.

This community isn't intended to replace the existing communities, but simply to provide a central place for sharing the art of crochet. We're interested in more than simply the scarves and afghans our grandmothers made, pleasant though they may be. We're looking for something else. Call it art.

As to rules, there are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Use LJ-Cuts If you don't know how, look here. You can put one image, no larger than 600 pixels in either direction, above the cut, but any larger and more numerous images should go behind it. The text on the cut should give someone a decent idea of what's behind it.

  2. Be reasonable This should be obvious. Don't fly off the handle at people, be polite, don't assume they're attacking you, don't attack them. If there's a dispute, don't answer in comments, bring it to me, or at the very least to email. I reserve the right to delete comments that are just adding fuel to a fire.

  3. Respect copyrights This should be equally obvious. Don't steal copyrighted designs. Don't hotlink images that aren't yours. That sort of thing.

  4. Use common sense Don't put down other people's communities or LJ's here. Don't put potentially offensive images above the cut. Don't post things more appropriate to your own journal. Stay on topic. You all know how to act like grown-ups, and I'm going to take it on faith that you will. Make me proud.

  5. Sales are OK If you want to promote your auction, or crafting site, or whatever, then by all means, feel free. Just don't let it get out of hand. I don't want to see multiple postings for the same eBay auction, for instance, but if you want to include a link (I'd prefer no banners) to your site along with your new creation, go right ahead.

  6. Use tags I encourage people to use tags on their entries, to make it easier to find them. This is definitely to your benefit. If you don't know how, there's information here.

That's the basics. If you have any problems, don't hesitate to contact me. I'm hoping to see some amazing creations here.
